This week I read about an economic debate between legalists and confucianists. They talked about trade, taxes, and monopolies.
I found the part about funding war to be interesting because it still applies today. There is still an insane amount of money going towards the military and the justifications are also the same of needing to do as much as possible to defend from attackers. This is a mix of a primary and secondary source.
I also read excerpts from Sima Qian, also known as the Grand Historian. One talks about Sima Qian’s dad’s dying words and the other talks about why Sima Qian chose castration as a punishment rather than suicide.
I like Sima Qian’s mindset. Even through all of the pain, he’s still going to keep working on recording history. And it did work since his writing is so important and we’re still learning about him. His mindset is a good one to think about throughout life. THis is a primary source.
I also learned more about what berg builds can do. It is interesting and something I will definitely take advantage of in the future.
Next week I might start thinking about my next show and tell project.
